Non-Medicare Fees for our Gold Coast Medical Centre
If you are not eligible for a Medicare card, you can still visit our medical centre. Our standard non-Medicare consult fee is $65.
Who is eligible for a Medicare card?
One benefit for having a Medicare card is to take advantage of bulk billing when visiting a medical centre. When you visit our medical centre for a standard consultation as a bulk billing patient, you will not have any out of pocket expenses to pay.
Some people are not eligible for a Medicare card which means that they cannot claim the Australian government’s assistance for a range of medical services, lower cost prescriptions and free care as a public patient in a public hospital.
The Reciprocal Healthcare Care Agreement (RHCA) is an arrangement between the Australian government and participating countries to get financial assistance towards some areas of medical care. If you have been a resident in a participating RHCA country, you are eligible to apply for a Medicare card.
If you’re not an Australian citizen or permanent resident, do not have a resident return visa or a Ministerial Order you are not eligible for a Medicare card and therefore must pay our standard non-Medicare consult fee as an out of pocket expense.
You are welcome to make an appointment with our Gold Coast medical centre and/or make us your regular doctor whether you hold a Medicare card or not. We treat all our patients with the same care and give all our patients the same level of attention regardless of whether they are being bulk billed.
